Izit - Stories 1989

Another John Leech introduction, this was one of those that took me by surprise. It's kind of like novelty Jazz music. The melody is infectious but its the little sound bytes that I love. My choice is the Jackanory Mix although I've A Novella has more samples. For the rest of the world, here in the UK we had a childrens tv programme called Jackanory were a guest presenter would read a book. The story always began with the line

"Are you sitting comfortably? Good, then I'll begin."

Izit comprised Tony Colman, Nicola Bright Thomas & Pete & Catherine Shrubshall and they were not simply a novelty group. Their album 'The Whole Affair' featured some great music and good songs and fine quality vocals from Sam Edwards, Byron Wallen & Cat Von Trap. Stories was simply an interesting head nodder to get them noticed.
